José Mourinho praises Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and still holds a little grudge

Fenerbahce signed a contract with the world-renowned coach Jose Mourinho in front of thousands of fans at Ulker Stadium on June 2, 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey. After the signing ceremony, Coach Jose Mourinho waved to the fans.

Even legendary manager Jose Mourinho couldn’t resist praising his ex-player Harry Kane after his world-class season, breaking all sorts of records at Bayern Munich.

Talking to PA, José said: “Kane has scored goals for Tottenham, England, and I had no doubts that he would score goals for Bayern. Harry is a fantastic, complete player who scores goals from all over the pitch but isn’t selfish – he assists, drops deep, builds play, presses, defends. The only thing he is missing is to win a trophy. He was my player at Tottenham and I was going to win one with him, but I was sacked six days before the final.” (via @iMiaSanMia)

He’s certainly right about Kane’s world-class qualities, and it’s also pretty clear he still resents being sacked right before a final, where he could've added another trophy to his ranks and helped Kane win his first.

Either way, Kane will be looking to add a trophy to his cabinet in the coming seasons with Bayern and finally claim what football has denied him for so long. Let’s hope it isn’t too long.
