Denzel Dumfries on Real Madrid radar

Denzel Dumfries of Netherlands celebrates scoring at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Round of 16 match between Netherlands and USA at Khalifa International Stadium on December 3, 2022 in Doha, Qatar.

Real Madrid could offer Denzel Dumfries a chance to test his mettle in La Liga as the Spanish giants are pretty impressed by his quality.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid might sound up Inter Milan over the possibility of a move of right-back Denzel Dumfries. The 26-year-old has had a fantastic World Cup so far, with the Serie A giants valuing him at around €60 million.

Despite their strong performance on the pitch, the need of plugging the loopholes has emerged at Real Madrid. And right-back is one of the concerned areas that need to be addressed.

Dani Carvajal has been one of the best in the business for years and has maintained a strong presence on the right side of the Real Madrid defence. But his recent performances have been questionable, and perhaps the need has risen to bring a competent alternative.

Lucas Vazquez has been chipping in with useful contributions. But the Spaniard has only been a makeshift right-back and will exhaust at some time point. Real Madrid recently lost their advantage in La Liga as Barcelona have leapfrogged them to the top position.

More youthfulness will be needed and thus the club is trying to inject some fresh blood on the pitch. And several right-backs, including Jeremie Frimpong, have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar, with Dumfries also a viable target.

Dumfries has already displayed his capabilities with a one-man show against the USA in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16. And that could be a major breakthrough for Real Madrid. But Inter will not sell their prized asset for cheap, and his recent heroics have added a few million to his price tag.

A bid in the region of €60 million should convince the Serie A giants, but Tottenham Hotspur are pretty ahead in the queue. The Premier League giants are also considering a January agreement for the player only to offer the player back on loan to Inter for the rest of the season.

Dumfries has been equally effective on both sides of the pitch and can also be deployed as an advanced player if the situation demands. The 26-year-old is willing to accept a new challenge in his career, and it remains to be seen which team wins his race in the end.
