Romelu Lukaku has returned to squad training but reportedly won’t be rushed back for Inter’s upcoming game against Fiorentina.

The 29-year-old Belgian forward returned to the Nerazzurri in the summer only a year after making his €113m transfer to Chelsea, a move that ultimately didn’t work out for either player or club.

Lukaku initially hit the ground running at Inter this season, scoring a goal and providing an assist in his first two games, but after the third game against Lazio he was forced to the sidelines with a muscle injury.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Lukaku returned to squad training today, working alongside his teammates for the first time since the injury cropped up. Despite the positive news, Inter believe it’s still too early to put him back into the match squad, so he’ll likely be left at home for the upcoming game against Fiorentina.

The Belgian striker is keen to return to full fitness as soon as possible in order to help the Nerazzurri ahead of the World Cup break next month.
