Tottenham signings Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster test positive for Covid

New Tottenham signings Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster are isolating in South Korea after testing positive for Covid.

Bissouma, signed from Brighton last month for £26million, and Foster, signed on a free from Southampton, missed the opening game of the Spurs goodwill tour.

'We had a problem with Covid,' said Spurs boss Antonio Conte in his post-match press conference. 'The test was positive with Bissouma and Forster. And for this reason they weren't here with us.'

Also absent was Ivan Perisic who was injured at the end of last season and not yet up to speed but Conte expects him to join training on Thursday.

Dejan Kulusevski and Ben Davies did not play either, they trained instead on the pitch before the game because Conte wanted to put them through the running session they missed on Monday.

'Perisic is working very well,' said Conte. 'He's very close and, honestly, we are satisfied because his recovery is going very fast and we are happy about this. When we come back in London, he will start to have some of the training session with us.'

Spurs began their pre-season with a 6-3 win against Team K League in Seoul on Wednesday. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both scored braces, with the other goals coming from a long-range Eric Dier strike and an own goal from the home side.

Son proved popular with the local fans, as cheers from the 66,000-strong crown greeted each of the South Korean Captain's touches.

The victory follows Antonio Conte's strict new training regime that had players running up to 42 pitch lengths on Monday.

Both Son and Kane collapsed during the exercise in the 30C heat, with Kane vomitting on the pitch at the end of one run.

It may seem extreme, but Conte's approach to fitness could give his side the edge they need to challenge for silverware.
