AC Milan are working on two signings from Lille

AC Milan are hoping to confirm the signings of Sven Botman and Renato Sanches from Lille by the end of this week.

Renato Sanches

After disappointing spells at Bayern Munich and on-loan at Swansea City, Renato Sanches revived his career at Lille FC.

Renato Sanches joined the French side for 25 million pounds from Munich in the January transfer window of 2019. He has played 67 games for the club so far, scoring six goals.

The 24-year-old midfielder played a starring role in Les Dogues’ Ligue 1 triumph during the 2021-22 season. His performances for the French club also impressed Portugal manager Fernando Santos, who included him in the squad for the UEFA Euro 2020.

However, the midfielder will enter the final 12 months of his current contract at the San Siro on July 1. Lille are likely to cash in for him this summer instead of letting him leave on a Bosman deal in 2023.

AC Milan are close to signing Lille FC midfielder Renato Sanches. The Rossoneri have been in contact with Sanches’ representatives since last January. The 24-year-old midfielder enjoyed a decent 2021-22 campaign with Les Dogues, scoring two goals in 25 appearances. He was impressed with his tackling and dribbling skills, along with his passing ability.

Several reports say that Renato Sanches has already been to Milan and has visited the facilities and the city itself ahead of the potential move.

Sanches has averaged 1.4 key passes, 1.7 dribbles, and 0.8 tackles per 90 in the Ligue 1 last season. Other than that, he registered 85.1 per cent of his passes in the league.

Sven Botman

Milan are trying again to sign Botman, having gone after him in the summer, and in particular, technical director Paolo Maldini is pushing for the Dutchman.

Botman has had an agreement with Milan for a long time over personal terms on a five-year deal, and he is rejecting all the other proposals that come to him, in particular from Newcastle, who are pushing strongly.

However, Lille are hoping to sell Botman to a Premier League club at a higher amount, so even if the 22-year-old’s will is quite clear to everyone, some negotiating must be done to get all parties in agreement.

Botman expects things to end up quickly once his commitments with Holland are over.

“We are working on it,” he said.

“It’s difficult for me to get away from things at the moment. I hear something about this situation almost every day.

“Things are progressing and I hope there will be more clarity before the pre-season training camp starts.”
