Sergio Agüero has spoken out on the rumours that he may have to retire after reports in Spain suggested that the Barcelona forward might have to quit the game due to health concerns.
Aguero was substituted during Barcelona's draw with Alaves in October after suffering from chest pains. After undergoing cardiological tests, the club confirmed the cause was a heart arrhythmia.
In their statement they said: "The player Kun Agüero has undergone a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure by Dr. Josep Brugada.
"He is out and for the next three months the effectiveness of the treatment will be evaluated to determine his recovery process."
Whilst the initial tests suggested that Agüero would be ruled out for three months to allow him to rest, Catalunya Radio reported on Friday (12 November) that the results were worse than expected and that the Argentine may be forced to retire early.
However the 33-year-old has spoken himself about the speculation on his future, taking to Twitter to release a short statement which confirmed he is remaining positive.

He said: "To address the rumours, I can say that I am following the advice of the club’s doctors, completing tests and treatment and seeing my progress after 90 days.

The former Manchester City striker had only just returned to action when he was substituted against Alaves, making only his second start of his Barcelona career.
Aguero made his Barca debut in their 3-1 win over Valencia in early October, and scored his only goal for the club in their 2-1 Clásico defeat to Real Madrid.
