Pedri put pen to paper on his shiny new Barcelona contract on Friday that is designed to keep the midfielder at the Camp Nou until 2026.

The teenager spoke at a news conference after the renewal was made official and discussed about how he’s looking forward to the future with the Catalan giants.

“These are difficult times” he said. “But we are the best club in the world and we’ll go on to achieve great things … All of this has happened very fast and without my mother, father and sister I would never be sitting here today. They help me to keep my feet on the ground and give me advice.”

Pedri is currently sidelined with injury but insisted it was nothing to do with his crazy schedule last season that saw him feature 73 times for club and country.

“It has nothing to do with last season, it is true that I played many games but an injury can happen at any time,” he said. “I had a bit of bad luck and I do not set any deadline to return, you have to recover well to return to maximum.”

The teenager is expected to sit out Sunday’s match against Valencia and the visit from Dynamo Kiev but could be back in time for El Clasico at the Camp Nou.
