Lyon have accounted for Monaco 2-0 to move up to fifth place in Ligue 1 while champions Lille suffered their fourth defeat of the season, beaten 1-0 at promoted Clermont
Forward Karl Toko Ekambi scored an ice-cool late penalty and central defender Jason Denayer added another near the end as Lyon eased to victory at home.
Brazil midfielder Lucas Paqueta turned a tight game into Lyon's favour with his superb passing as soon as he went on, even though he had only just returned from international duty.
Toko Ekambi held his nerve and netted from a short run up as he sent goalkeeper Alexander Nuebel the wrong way in the 75th minute - after an Axel Disasi foul in the area.
Paqueta played a clever late pass to release former Chelsea left back Emerson, and his low cross could hardly be missed by Denayer from just two metres.

The defeat left Monaco in seventh.
In the day's early match, Vital N'Simba scored his first goal in the top flight to give Clermont their third win of the season and lift them up to 11th on 13 points - one adrift of ninth-placed Lille.
Left-back N'Simba found the net in the 32nd minute with a low half volley after Benjamin Andre's clearance fell into his path.
Lille's veteran captain, Jose Fonte, almost equalised with 10 minutes left but home goalkeeper Arthur Desmas saved the central defender's low shot.
"The discontent is general, it must turn into a revolt and this will start with the Champions League on Wednesday," said Lille coach Jocelyn Gourvennec.
