Bayern Munich are looking to land Barcelona midfielder De Jong

Barcelona are currently in such dire financial situation that they just might be forced to sell a couple of big names in the upcoming transfer windows. Of course, some have already left the club in the form of Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez but the media are convinced more could very well be on the way.

According to the latest report from Mundo Deportivo, Bayern Munich are interested in Frenkie de Jong and would be willing to bid for the young midfielder. At first, this seems like an impossible case for the Germans but they do have the financial power to do so and Barcelona are in a very vulnerable position.

This is true both for their sporting project and money-wise, which makes the matter even worse. Of course, De Jong has recently signed a brand new contract with the Catalans and has a 400 million euros release clause but Bayern would never pay that and would rather negotiate their way to the player.

They were also really interested in the midfielder back when he was at Ajax but De Jong opted for Barcelona instead. Now, however, things have somewhat changed and maybe his head could potentially be turned with a good offer, financially and sportingly speaking.

Still, it has to be said that the Dutchman is Ronald Koeman’s most trusted player in the squad and this could pose a problem for the Bavarian titans, who are already in contact with De Jong’s agent.

It does seem they are confident in succeeding regardless of the situation and besides, you cannot discount anything in football nowadays.
