Arsenal are set to play out their penultimate Europa League group stage tie of the season on Thursday.
The Gunners will head into the tie knowing that qualification and top spot are all but already secured.
Mikel Arteta’s side are currently top of Group B after 4 games with 12 points.
Molde and Thursday’s opponents Rapid Vienna have both amassed six points to date, meaning an Arsenal draw would be enough to hand them top spot in the group.
Regardless, Arsenal do look nailed on to finish 1st anyway, suggesting Arteta will likely rest a number of key stars ahead of the more important Premier League fixture at the weekend.
Ahead of the Vienna clash, Arsenal have provided an update on David Luiz.
The Brazilian, of course, suffered a head injury over the weekend after colliding with Wolves’ Raul Jimenez.
The Brazilian, after receiving treatment, played on before being taken off at half-time.
Arsenal have since confirmed that Luiz was checked on by doctors on Monday and reported to their training centre on Tuesday.
The Gunners added that Luiz is in good health, but his cut is not yet healed, meaning he will miss Thursday’s meeting with Vienna:
David was visited at home by our club doctor on Monday during the scheduled day off and reported to our training centre on Tuesday.
Close care of David’s cut and general monitoring of his wellbeing will continue in the coming days and David continues to be in good health. The cut to David’s head will take some days to heal and therefore he will not be available for Thursday’s match. We will continue to closely support and monitor David’s progress.
