Grealish and Sancho shine in England’s win over Ireland

Jadon Sancho of England celebrates with his team after scoring his team's second goal during the international friendly match between England and the Republic of Ireland at Wembley Stadium on November 12, 2020 in London, England.

England manager Gareth Southgate saw his side ease to victory over the Republic of Ireland.

A much-changed Three Lions team secured a comfortable 3-0 win at Wembley as Harry Maguire captained the side and opened the scoring to make amends for his red card against Denmark 29 days ago.

Jadon Sancho doubled the lead before a Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty wrapped up the victory on a night where Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka starred for the hosts.

England manager Gareth Southgate said: "We were really pleased. We had a good bedrock with the back three who were our most experienced players in the team.

"We were not as strong physically in midfield as we might normally be but we played with intelligence.

"Jack Grealish was very good. He's in really good form and he's playing in the areas we want him to play, not coming too deep, and he's affecting the game in the final third."
