Jose Mourinho has been backed to disrupt Manchester United's transfer plans by making a swoop for Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish by former Premier League midfielder Jamie O'Hara.
United have been long-term admirers of Grealish and have placed the 24-year-old high on their summer wishlist.
The Red Devils are primarily focussing on trying to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho but once those talks are finished they will turn their attention to other targets.
Grealish could be one of those Ole Gunnar Solskjaer asks his superiors to bring to Old Trafford - even though Villa will demand around £70m.
However, O'Hara thinks Mourinho should beat his former side United to the punch, although he would be wary of paying a substantial fee.
“He’s had a great season, he would be brilliant for Spurs,” O’Hara told talkSPORT.
“We should have got him a season ago when he was a lot cheaper. I don’t know if Spurs have got the money, maybe if they offload a couple. He would be great.
“I think it’s time for him to step up if he wants to be an England player; he needs to be a team near the top six.
“He’s not worth £80m; I love him, but in the current market, absolutely no chance [is he worth that].”
Grealish would have been able to leave for a reduced amount had Villa been relegated to the Championship.
But the midfielder scored the vital goal which kept them in the Premier League against West Ham on the final day of the season.
Villa boss Dean Smith recently joked that Grealish signed a new contract during the wild celebrations which followed.
“I gave him a few shots last night and got him to sign a new five-year contract," he said.
“It’s not been done yet... it was written in sambuca, I’m not sure if it was mine or his!
“Jack’s a wonderful lad and I’ve got all the time in the world for him and I’m so pleased that he scored the goal that kept us in the Premier League.”
Spurs finished sixth in the table so qualified for next season's Europa League which will help increase their spending power.
