Celtic have had a look at taking Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha on loan this summer, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Neil Lennon continues to work on bolstering his attacking options during this window. That is despite, of course, the Hoops opening their season by scoring five against Hamilton at Parkhead at the weekend.
The Daily Mail reports that the Bhoys have monitored Nmecha, who has made a handful of appearances for the Cityzens.
It remains to be seen if Celtic confirm their interest in the 21-year-old with a bid. But the Hoops have had a good relationship with City in recent years.
The likes of Patrick Roberts, Olivier Ntcham, Daniel Arzani and Jeremie Frimpong have moved to Celtic from City over the last few years.
Nmecha’s career record for Manchester City’s under-23s is simply outstanding. He has scored 26 goals in 33 Premier League 2 games for the youngsters.
However, his 2019/20 season was one he will be hugely disappointed with. He started the campaign on loan at Wolfsburg and moved to Middlesbrough in January.
He failed to score at either club however, with the majority of his performances seeing him deployed as a striker.
Celtic have taken players who have previously taken a hit to their confidence in the past and helped them turn their fortunes around spectacularly.
So Manchester City may be forgiven for thinking that Celtic could be the perfect place for Nmecha should Lennon come calling this summer.
