Inter defender Diego Godin discussed the 2019/20 season and how the team will continue to grow for the future in a post on his Instagram page yesterday.
The 34-year-old Uruguayan defender, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2022, joined the club on a free transfer last summer and was expected to impress under coach Antonio Conte, but he struggled to adapt to playing in a back-three and often was dropped in favour of young talent Alessandro Bastoni.
Godin discussed the season, saying: “An intense and different season in football has ended, with everything that has happened in the world, while we continue to fight to return to normal.
“We would have loved to win and give the win to our fans but it wasn’t possible. I hope you still feel proud of the work and effort we gave on the pitch yesterday and throughout the season.
“This is just a break in the process. A path that this team has taken to continue to grow and to achieve the goals that this club’s history deserves. Now we’ll rest and recharge our batteries to come back with even more desire and enthusiasm.”
