Man Utd and Arsenal target Gabriel Magalhaes is leaving Lille this summer, the French club have confirmed.

The 22-year-old defender has reportedly been attracting interest from both clubs as well as Everton and Serie A giants Napoli.

But according to the MEN, it looks as though the Premier League trio are set to miss out on his signature as he has already agreed terms with the Italian outfit.

In fact the MEN's report claims that United were never interested in signing the Brazilian centre-back, who is expected to announce his next move within the next week.

"The way we work is very simple," Lille president Gerard Lopez told BBC Sport. "We explain to him [Gabriel] and his environment, his agent, what we're looking for, and once we get those offers the choice is his.

"We are there now, so we told him: Eventually you have to make a decision but we're not pressing you.

"I think he will make it this week, or next week at the latest. He is leaving, we've given the OK for that.

"There's a lot of competition. He's a young player so he's got to make sure he makes the right decision.

"We help him out a little bit so we tell him: We think this might be the right manager or club for you."

Magalhaes is valued at around £22million a would represent a real coup for Napoli, who have already splashed the cash to land Victor Osimhen from Lille.

United and Arsenal will now be forced to seek out other alternatives, with both clubs in the market for defensive reinforcements.

While wrapping up a transfer for Jadon Sancho remains priority, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted he was open to new defensive arrivals.

Chris Smalling is expected to be sold this summer after his successful loan spell at Roma, while the future of Phil Jones is also uncertain.

Arsenal meanwhile have added William Saliba to their ranks but Sokratis, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding have all been linked with the exit door.
