Manchester United are still facing having to fork out £108million in one lump sum for Jadon Sancho this summer, as Borussia Dortmund have refused to budge or alter their asking price. According to Fabrizio Romano, Dortmund are still demanding the full £108m fee.
Sancho’s future is still up in the air, and has turned into one of the biggest transfer sagas in recent years.
The Dortmund winger has been linked to United throughout the season, and negotiations have been rumbling on for weeks now.
The Red Devils want to pay in installments and with add-ons for Sancho, but Dortmund are reluctant to let him go for anything less than their asking price.
There are conflicting reports about whether Sancho has agreed personal terms or not, but it is believed that he is keen to move to Old Trafford this summer either way.
Reports suggest he has agreed a five-year deal worth £340,000-per-week, though conflicting reports say he is still yet to agree a deal.
United are also said to be confident of finalising the transfer provided they are able to agree personal terms with the winger.
But according to transfer guru Romano, they are still being told there is only one way to get the deal done, and that’s to pay the full £108m.
The Athletic claims United players are set to push the higher-ups at the club to press forward with the deal, as many are excited about the prospect of playing with the star next year.
Meanwhile, former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has declared he wants to see Sancho make the switch from Germany to England.
He predicted that the youngster could have the same impact on the side as Bruno Fernandes did after joining from Sporting Lisbon in January.
“I hope he comes over here. He would be perfect for United,” Hargreaves said.
“I don’t think they (Dortmund) have much of an argument because they’ve pretty much sold everyone, whether it’s been (Robert) Lewandowski, (Mats) Hummels, (Mario) Gotze or (Ousmane) Dembele. Everyone has pretty much left there.
“We know they are a selling club and it’s obviously about money.
“In Jadon, as much as we are in a difficult space right now with everything going in the world, it will be money well spent.
“You just have to get the deal done.
“You saw what Bruno did to United. Jadon would do the same."
