Angers midfielder, Baptiste Santamaria, who is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar this summer, could be available for just £13 million according to reports from Italy.
The 25-year-old has been a late bloomer but established a reputation as one of the best defensive midfielders in Ligue 1 over the past two seasons.
His ability to cover vast amounts of ground and to win the ball back consistently has seen him dubbed ‘the next Kante’.
The Express reported at the start of the month that Tottenham had sent their scouts to watch the Frenchman on multiple occasions this season.
However, they installed Leicester City as the favourites to land the Angers star while revealing that Everton were also tracking the midfielder.
Area Napoli have now reported that the Premier League is Santamaria’s prefered destination this summer while discussing Napoli’s interest in the French star.
They also suggested that Angers will be willing to part ways with the midfielder for around £13 million when the transfer market opens.
At £13 million, there is no doubt that Santamaria could turn out to be a fantastic bargain. I would be extremely surprised if a Premier League team doesn’t go in for him this summer as his game seems ready-made for English football.
However, I am not sure he is of the requisite quality for Spurs. I expect him to land up at a club like Everton or Newcastle United.
