Alphonso Davies extend deal with Bayern Munich until 2025

Alphonso Davies of FC Bayern Muenchen poses with a jersey after his contract was extended until 2025 on April 20, 2020 in Munich, Germany.

Alphonso Davies has signed a new deal with Bayern Munich.

The Canada international has excelled for the Bavarian powerhouse this season, impressing at left-back for the Bundesliga champions.

And his efforts have been rewarded with a new contract, which now runs until 2025.

"FC Bayern and Alphonso Davies have agreed terms extending the player’s stay at the club ahead of schedule," a statement read on Bayern's official website.

"Both sides agreed to extend the player’s contract, which originally ran until 2023, for a further two years until 30 June 2025. 19-year-old Davies joined the German record champions from the Vancouver Whitecaps in autumn 2018."

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said of Davies' contract: "Alphonso has developed very well at FC Bayern and has earned this contract extension with his impressive performances.

"We are happy that he will remain with FC Bayern in the long term. He delights our fans not only with the way he plays, but also with the way he is off the pitch."

Davies, meanwhile, added: "I am very happy. FC Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world, and for me it's a dream come true to play here.

"I felt happy from day one. I want to win as many titles as possible with this club. The mentality of always wanting to win everything is in FC Bayern's DNA."
