Liverpool and Barcelona join the race to sign Camavinga

Liverpool have made contact to sign Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga this summer, according to reports in Spain. Manchester United have been credited with an interested in the 17-year-old, while Arsenal made a bid for his services last summer.

Camavinga is regarded as the next superstar in French football and United think he can be their successor to Paul Pogba.

Arsenal were unable to convince Rennes to part with their rising star last summer, but Sport claim Liverpool have now entered the race.

The Reds have been in touch with Rennes about signing the midfielder, who is valued at over £45million by his club.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to make a few major signings in the next transfer window, but they will face competition from Barcelona for Camavinga, as well as from United, Arsenal and Tottenham.

Barcelona have identified the Frenchman as the strong physical preference they are looking for to improve their midfield, but the Spanish giants are cautious about spending over the odds to land the youngster.

Camavinga is under contract at Rennes until 2022 and the belief is he will accept the best financial offer made to him and his team are prepared to listen to every one of his potential suitors.

Liverpool are expected to have money to spend after two quiet windows, but the Reds transfer plans are set to be affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
