Peter Crouch spent three years at Anfield, winning the FA Cup in 2006 and reaching the Champions League final in 2007, before spells at Portsmouth, Tottenham and Stoke. He joined Burnley on transfer deadline day in January and has featured three times as a substitute.
The 38-year-old has fond memories of his time at Anfield and would love to see his former club be crowned champions at the end of the season. But, his focus will be on helping Burnley pick up the win at the weekend.
"It would be nice to get a goal. Obviously I’d like to see them win the league but I’d like us to go there and get the three points," Crouch told the Burnley Express.
"I've got a few scouse mates who won't be too pleased if that happens but we'll be going all out to get three points."
Having had a seven-point advantage, Liverpool find themselves a point behind leaders Manchester City and Crouch expects the title race to throw up some more surprises before the end of the season.
"It is exciting. I was looking at the run-ins and I think Liverpool’s run-in is slightly easier than City’s," he added.
"The title race is going to go down to the wire because both teams are so strong.
"There are still going to be so many twists and turns. City have got a difficult period coming up.
"There's about four games in a row, some hard ones, so I expect, after the weekend, they (Liverpool) will do it.”
Liverpool host Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday, [kick-off 12pm].
