Barcelona target Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez

Barcelona are targeting Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez. According to reports, Barcelona are looking to secure the services of the French centre-back after he put in some eye-catching displays at the Wanda Metropolitano during the course of this campaign. The 22-year-old player came through the youth ranks of Los Rojiblancos before breaking into Diego Simeone’s first-team this season.
In 2015, Lucas renewed his contract until 2019 and was definitely promoted to the main squad. His maiden appearance in the UEFA Champions League took place on 15 March 2016, as he replaced injured Diego Godín for extra time of the round-of-16 tie against PSV Eindhoven (0–0 after 120 minutes, 8–7 penalty shootout win) he entered at the same point in the final, a shootout loss to neighbours Real Madrid in the San Siro on 28 May.
Hernandez has featured in 32 matches for the Madrid outfit this season in all competitions and has been solid at the back which has helped his side climb to the second position in the La Liga standings. His rapid emergence in this campaign has alerted the Catalans and now, Ernesto Valverde’s side are ready to pounce on his signature in the off-season.
